My thoughts on #GOsnapshot (Upcoming Feature in “Pokémon GO”)

Hello readers,

Today, I wanted to get a head-start on writing about an upcoming feature to Pokémon Go: #GOsnapshot.

I can’t tell you guys how excited I am to be able to photograph Pokémon that I already have. This way, I don’t have to worry about them running away on me! If I’m hoping for one thing however, it would be that the developers improve the stability of AR+ mode, which enhances the augmented reality abilities of the game to make things more natural. They could alternatively make sure this new feature doesn’t need AR+ mode.

My current phone, while listed to be compatible with AR+, doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to. It will launch the mode, but even if it finds the Pokémon (which it usually doesn’t), it starts to move into the distance for some reason.

Still, whether or not it works for my current phone at the moment, I’m excited for the possibilities this could bring. For one, I enjoy the AR+ mode’s photography when I get the chance to borrow someone else’s device. So as soon as I can access #GOsnapshot, I plan to use it. Second, imagine the contests people could have with this feature. I’m imagining something along the lines of sticking to a theme, setting, and/or a location if it takes place at an event. This could be very exciting!

I can’t wait to see what the future of this feature brings. What about you though? Is there anything you hope to see from this feature? Let me know in the comments below.

Until next time, peace!

  1. The crazy thing is that this feature alone could have me getting back into Pokemon Go. I always felt like it was that interaction with the real world that was its most intriguing part, but the first thing you do if you are serious about catching Pokemon is turn off the AR.

Maybe some fun Photo Modes and Instagram posts incoming.
